Logo Designs

Wherever you look these days, there are logos. We are surrounded by them. Logos on web sites, logos on t-shirts, logos on TV...

Logo designs seep into our sub conscious and become part of the culture. They are an effective marketing tool for companies and are worth a thousand words.

The owners of logo designs are very protective of them and will not allow any infringement. The logos are used across the brand, on advertisements and products.

Nothing is more effective in getting the attention of potential clients than a catchy logo onlookers can associate with your business. You don't have to be a professional artist to create an attractive logo for your business or for your personal use.

There have been logos in use since the early part of the 20th century. The classic Coca Cola bottle was one of the first to carry such a symbol. Posters, pub mirrors and tin wall advertisements had them too. Logo designs were on shop fronts, buses, railway stations and in newspapers. Nowadays, they also pop up on our computer screens and TVs.

Clothing manufacturers make extensive use of logos and many of us are walking advertisements for them. It's almost impossible to buy a tee shirt or a pair of jeans on the high street without a logo printed on.

Some people flaunt logo designs as status symbols. If people have bought designer labels such as Gucci and Fendi, they want other people to know about it. One of the most recognizable logo designs is the famous swoosh symbol of Nike. The three stripes Adidas logo is very familiar too. These logos are very minimal, as is the contemporary fashion.

Logo Designs - Text or Picture?

When designing a logo, carefully consider the merits of text-only, and whether a pictorial symbol is likely to add value. Words denote meaning, as they require little mental interpretation, even compared to picture symbols. We are used to picking out and interpreting strong words, as we do so hundreds of times every day.

A lot of time and money is invested in coming up with the right logo idea for a company. It's going to brand the products forever, unless a company is prepared to ditch it and invent a new one. British Airways and British Telecom did just that and no one really understands why. It must cost millions to change logo designs. They appear on every sheet of company stationary and literature.

The importance of a good logo is not lost on the music industry. Record companies want to shift product as much as anyone else. The classic logo designs help to define a band. The Rolling Stones are a prime example with their big, red lips logo. Heavy metal bands such as Metallica and Megadeth use gothic lettering to full advantage. The late Johnny Cash was always seen walking away with his guitar slung over his shoulder. The Explicit Lyrics Parental Warning stickers are probably the most potent of logo designs ever.

Logo Design Software

You don't have to be a professional artist to create an attractive logo for your business or for your personal use.

There are a number of logo design software options that make creating the icon quick and painless. Many of the products available are so easy to use that you can have an eye-catching icon that represents your business completed and ready to print within minutes.

AAA Logo design software is an example of the many products available on the market today. This software offers over one-hundred different templates that you can use to create your very own image. These templates allow you to make a creation that is entirely yours from scratch. You simply use the template to build your unique image from the ground up. The result is a personalized logo that reflects your skill and imagination.

My favorite software program for logo designs can be found here. I have been using this program since selling web sites for profit. The program is as easy as pie and definitely made for the beginner. You can create something very simple such as I have with my medical symptom web site within just a few minutes. If you want to create something with a little more spice that is easy to do as well. Check out these logos I have used in the past at Simple Digital Products.

You can offer logo designs to other small businesses for profit or even offer a few other great services to make even more money like eCovers and Flash Ads.

Logos are surely here to stay. If companies could put them on a chip and insert them into our brains, I'm sure they would.

A word of warning:

Many creative people want to express so much in very little space. Try to keep your general idea concise and clean. The logo designs in software programs offer a plethora of options and it is easy to make the icon way too complex.

Decide what it is you want to communicate and focus on that. Consider the message you are trying to convey and shorten the message to just a few words. After all, a picture paints a thousand words, but few people have time to absorb that much information. The ideal logo is clean, direct and eye-catching.

Logo designs will keep evolving just like new cars, electronic goods and so on.
